Abandoning Your Citizenship.

If you or a loved one are a green card holder and you leave the United States and then wish to return, your trip must be for a temporary visit, not because your "real" home is elsewhere. Making your home in another country even for a short time can lead to the conclusion that you have "abandoned" your U.S. residence.

Excessive travel abroad can and will adversely affect eligibility. Excessive travel can include one long trip or the accumulation of several trips over the period that precedes your admission as a U.S. citizen.  Continuous residence means that the applicant has maintained residence within the United States for a specified period of time.

To learn more about the ins and outs of “abandoning” your citizenship you should seek the counsel of Baltimore area immigration attorney Briana Arnold.  Attorney Arnold has successfully helped many people overcome denials based on alleged abandonment of citizenship.  Please call (410) 484-1400 and make an appointment at her Baltimore office.

Forms, Forms, and more Forms.

Filing for divorce in the state of Maryland does not have to be any more complicated with the proper assistance.  These times are stressful enough without adding research and form-filling to the mix.  One could go to the proper website (if they are sure which is the best) and begin downloading forms.

On these aforementioned forms there are lines to fill out and boxes to check.  If you do it incorrectly you will probably have to start the process all over.  For example, the Complaint for Absolute Divorce is a five-page document that needs to be filled out to begin that particular process and on it goes from there.

Why not remove a great deal of the stress by calling Baltimore County female divorce attorney Briana Arnold.  Attorney Arnold knows Maryland family law inside and out and will guide you around the potholes of this rocky road.  Briana Arnold is just a phone call away.  Come in for a free family law consultation at her 1777 Reisterstown office.  That’s (410) 484-1400.

Okay, Congress DACA is in Your Court.

The administration is ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, the White House made it very clear that it wants a legislative solution from Congress to protect the roughly 800,000 “DREAMERS” who came to the U.S. illegally as children and now could face the possibility of deportation.

According to the National Immigration Law Center, the Dream Act of 2017 has many of the same protections in place as DACA does and also creates a path for citizenship or permanent legal resident status if applicants meet certain requirements. DACA did not provide such a path.  There are certain qualifications for permanent status in the Dream Act.

Decisions regarding your future or that of one your loved ones in America are fluid.  What will 2018 hold for “Dreamers”?  Someone who can help you sort it out is Baltimore County immigration attorney Briana Arnold.  She will help dreamers throughout the Baltimore area get a clearer picture of the ever-changing situation.  Please call her at (410) 484-1400.
