Child Support Questions and Answers.

Here is a fact that you need to know.  Under Maryland law, child support continues until the minor child reaches the age of 18.  Here is another heads up…It may be extended to age 19 if the child is still enrolled in high school.  And if there is a past-due amount it must be paid no matter what age the dependent may be.

What if you are legally separated but not divorced, can you get child support in the State of Maryland?  Well, there is no such thing as legal separation in this state.  You do not need to file such papers.  You simply need to file for child support.  By the way, if one of your children is turning 18 and the other is not look for a modification.

All of these things need to be sorted out by a family attorney in the state of Maryland.  Just such a person is Baltimore child support lawyer Briana Arnold.  Please visit her website at www.brianaarnoldlaw.com and see what she will do for you to fight for your interests.  Then give her a call at (410) 484-1400.

Always Dreaming.

No, this is not a recap of the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness which was held in our fair city.  It is about the Dreamers.  These are the three-quarters of a million under-age kids who are protected under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).  Even though they are supposedly exempt from heightened enforcement many are still worried.

Recently for the first time under the Trump administration agents detained a dreamer.  According to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) the person held was “a self-admitted gang member”.  His protections were quickly stripped and deportation proceedings began immediately.  It is unclear whether or not this incident will be isolated.

Whatever the case, a Dreamer and other aliens living in the United States of America need aggressive legal representation.  That comes from Baltimore area Dreamer assistant Briana Arnold.  Please visit her website at www.brianaarnoldlaw.com.  After reading about her many areas of expertise give her a call at (410) 484-1400.

What to do After a Car Accident.

Six months ago, we visited this unpleasant, but important subject.  No one wants to “plan” for it.  We just want you to approach the situation without panicking if it should ever rear its ugly head.  Let’s face it, there will probably come a time in the future where you are standing outside of your vehicle that has just been involved in an accident.

Always check everyone inside all of the cars involved to see if anyone is injured.  Your first phone call may be 911.  In this era, make sure that you also use your cell phone to take copious pictures of the scene.  Then exchange insurance information, and also during this time…call the cops!  They need to file a report depending on the severity of the accident.

What is the next obvious thing to do?  It is call a good attorney.  One of the best in our area is Baltimore car accident litigation lawyer Briana Arnold.  She will give you personal attention and not just pass it off to some newbie at her office.  That will become very important moving forward.  Remember Attorney Briana Arnold at (410) 484-1400.

The Best Interests of All.

When an impending divorce results in a child custody battle the lines often blur.  This is not about “winning at all costs”.  It truly is about what is best for the child (children).  Many times, cooler heads do NOT prevail.  You need to develop a plan that is carefully thought out and involves all parties.

Ultimately, the court will decide on the issues of primary or joint custody as well as financial responsibility.  There are many important considerations.  Among them are…

1.  The proper method to divide parental involvement.
2.  The fitness of each spouse to be a good parent.
3.  Stability at each home.
4.  The continuing education and religious upbringing of the minor children.

During this painful time, you need a representative in court who has your best interests at heart.  May we suggest a highly qualified female lawyer?  Briana Arnold is a Baltimore area child custody attorney.  She has practiced before various family judges in Baltimore County and she will represent you!  Give Attorney Arnold a call today at (410) 484-1400.

Six Degrees of Separation.

The promise of the new administration to crack down on illegal immigration is well under way.  So many of us know someone who knows someone who is challenged by being an illegal immigrant in this country.  For those that feel the pressure everyday life is challenging.  They go to and from work and do not draw any attention to themselves.

There are people in this great land who want to own a car, take a vacation, or purchase a home, but cannot at this point.  There is concern about family, friends, and neighbors in their community as they work toward getting the proper documentation.  No one should have to live this way!

The answer, of course is becoming a legal American citizen before the dream is dashed.  In the Baltimore area the right person to contact NOW is Briana Arnold.  She is a Baltimore area legal documentation lawyer.  She will assist you and your family on this important journey so you can walk around with your head held high.  Call her today at (410) 484-1400.

When an INS Agent Knocks at Your Door.

We hope it never happens to you or a loved one, but if an INS agent comes to your door you must NOT get nervous!  First of all, don’t just open the door.  You have every right to ask why they are there and insist upon an interpreter if necessary.  Make sure that they have a warrant signed by a judge that they can slide under the door.

Now that we have covered steps one, two, and three what happens next?  Warrants I-200 and I-205 DO NOT give agents the right to enter your home.  If they force their way in, calmly tell them they do not have your permission to search the premises.  If they detain you be confident and ask to speak to a lawyer.

The important thing is to stay calm and do not sign anything without your lawyer’s advice.  Try to remember to get badge numbers and the types of vehicles that they are driving.  At your first opportunity contact Baltimore area immigration attorney Briana Arnold.  She knows exactly what to do next.  Her phone number is (410) 484-1400.

Going Green.

This is not about what you think it is.  It has everything to do with applying for a Green Card when you have applied for asylum status.  It is right out of today’s headlines.  If you or a loved one has been granted asylum status, then you are now eligible to apply for permanent residence after one year from the awarding of asylum.

Understand that you are not “required” to apply for a Green Card, but it may be in your best interest to do that.  Two things to remember: 1.) You no longer qualify if conditions have changed in your country of origin…or 2.) You no longer meet the definition of an asylee due to changes in your particular circumstance.

This is where it gets tricky.  You need an immigration attorney to sort this out.  In this area that is Baltimore asylee application attorney Briana Arnold.  Visit her website at www.brianaarnoldlaw.com.  She will use her years of experience to determine if you are ready and guide you through the process. Call her today at (410) 484-1400.

Don’t Give Up the Fight.

Fighting for child custody may be one of the most taxing things that you ever do, but it is worth every effort that you can expend.  The first order of business is the scout motto…BE PREPARED!  You must assemble the proper documentation to prove in family court that you are the best parent for the job of child rearing.

The court will look at a variety of factors before rendering a decision such as…

1.  What are the personality traits of the two adults?
2.  Your employment status has a great deal to do with it.
3.  What is the physical and mental health of each parent?
4.  Which parent will encourage a healthy relationship with the other household.

To prepare for this important event in your life you need the advice and counsel of someone who has fought these battles for years.  The clear-cut choice is Baltimore area child custody lawyer Briana Arnold.  She knows what lies ahead in family court and will have you ready.  Call Attorney Arnold for a free consultation today at (410) 484-1400.

What is the Liability of an Uber Driver?

The landscape has certainly changed hasn’t it?  Now you have choices when “hailing a cab”.  Those choices include hiring the closest Uber driver.  Have you thought about the consequences of what recourse you would have if you were injured in an accident while sitting in the back seat during an Uber ride?

You are accepting a ride from a stranger and don’t know a thing about their background.  It’s almost like the old days of hitchhiking!  Uber drivers as well as their passengers are covered by a three-part insurance plan.  Part three is what you are interested in.  If an accident occurs while carrying a passenger Uber provides one million dollars of liability coverage.

Whenever the bad fortune of an auto accident befalls you it is imperative to know where to turn.  In the Baltimore area that answer is car accident attorney Briana Arnold.  In this new era of Uber, Lyft, and any other ride share, you need a lawyer who is on top of automobile injury law.  Call Attorney Arnold today for her personal expertise at (410) 484-1400.

Game On…Immigrants.

Now that there is a new sheriff in town the rules may change rapidly.  For immigrants in our country those changes may not be favorable.  Now more than ever, it is time to think about your future if you are not a citizen of the United States but plan on staying here.  One of the main reasons people immigrate to the US is for asylum.

Asylum by its very definition (a place offering protection and safety) should mean what it says.  If you or a loved one was persecuted in the country of your origin America has always offered protection.  We built two-and-a-half centuries on that premise.  You need to feel safe and secure in the good old US of A.

Never has it been more important to find a lawyer who is dedicated to your future residence in America.  If you live in or around Baltimore the answer is obvious.  Call Baltimore area asylum attorney Briana Arnold.  She will help you stay in this great country.  Address this issue today by arranging a meeting at her Reisterstown Road office by calling (410) 484-1400.

Kids in Car Seats.

What is your most precious cargo when driving the highways and bi-ways of the Baltimore area?  Why, your kids of course!  We would do anything to protect them, but sometimes we become less than diligent when it comes to traveling around in our vehicles.  This is especially true this time of year when road conditions are uncertain.

We all know that a proper child safety seat significantly reduces the chance of a serious injury occurring in a crash.  The type of seat that your kids are in should be judged by their age, their size and, of course their weight.  If the seat you choose is well past the manufacture date…say 5-6 years it very well may be expired.

Choosing the correct child seat for your children is one of your most important decisions.  And remember…NEVER leave your kids in the car alone!  If a potentially defective children’s car seat has caused an injury to someone in your family, immediately call Baltimore defective car seat litigation attorney, Briana Arnold, at (410) 484-1400.

Are You Owed Child Support?

What better way to start the New Year than discovering that some much needed AND deserved financial help is on the way?  Dead beat or just simply down-and-out “baby daddies” are shirking their responsibility all over the country.  Maybe they think that by not acknowledging your phone calls, emails, etc. that you will just quietly go away.

The lack of child support is one of the primary reasons that moms and their kids go on welfare.  You deserve better than that!  He helped create these beautiful lives, now it is his co-responsibility to make sure that they have opportunities to become responsible adults.  It is only fair isn’t it?

Where do you turn when a negligent father refuses to pay his fair share?   Baltimore area child support attorney Briana Arnold may be able to help.  She will apply her years of experience in family law matters to your particular case.  Begin 2017 by doing the right thing for your kids.  Call Briana Arnold today at (410) 484-1400.

Prescription Drug Abuse in America.

Every time a drug is prescribed in the Baltimore area there are multiple steps where errors can rear their ugly heads.  Among those errors are ordering the correct amount, making sure that the information is transported properly to the pharmacist, checking for side-effects, and just giving the correct dose at the proper time.

Did you know that improper drug allotments account for nearly three-quarters of a million emergency-room visits per year in the United States?  A couple of years ago there was a study that showed half of all drugs administered around the time of a surgery had some sort of snafu occur.  About 80% of these mistakes could have been prevented!

It is important to know where to turn when you or a loved one have been personally harmed in any way.  Baltimore area personal injury attorney Briana Arnold may be able to help.  She will carefully review and discuss your potential personal injury case.  It may be one of the most important steps you have ever taken.  Call Briana Arnold today at (410) 484-1400.

Sloppy Medical Practices.

The days of “oh no, we operated on the wrong body part” are NOT completely over.  Surgical errors still occur every day in this country.  Something as simple as the surgeon operating on the wrong vertebra just because the X-ray was not completely clear is still a very real scenario.  Here is a more common mistake…is the procedure being done the correct one in the first place?

This statistic may shock you.  In a survey taken over 12 major U.S. cities, it was discovered that nearly HALF of all patients did not receive the recommended care for their particular condition(s)!  Every body is different.  Operating rooms are not supposed to be assembly lines.  Because of the fear of malpractice some mistakes are made out of omission rather than commission.

It all adds up to this…medical malpractice is still rampant even in our modern health care facilities.  Always ask your doctor ahead of time to give you details on your treatment step-by-step.  If something occurs that just does not seem right, please contact Baltimore area medical malpractice attorney Briana Arnold.  You can reach her for thorough and confidential advice at (410) 484-1400.

The Illegal Immigrant Population.

First of all, let’s answer the obvious question.  About how many immigrants are in the United States illegally?  There are approximately 11 million or roughly 3.5% of the U.S. population.  This may surprise you - about two-thirds of this segment of the population have been in America for more than 10 years.  Plus, they are more likely to be native-born residents.

About 40% of these illegal immigrants have simply outstayed their visas.  The government is cracking down on border crossings by employing five times more agents than it had 25 years ago.  It is estimated that over eight million are employed or looking aggressively for jobs.  And believe it or not, roughly half of them pay some form of income taxes!

This issue will continue to become more and more complicated.  To sift through it schedule a free consultation with Briana Arnold.  Attorney Arnold is a Baltimore area immigration and naturalization attorney.  She will assess your case and suggest options that fit YOUR needs.  Give her a call at (410) 484-1400 for a free consultation at her office on 1777 Reisterstown Rd in Pikesville, MD.

Deportations are the Lowest in a Decade.

Undocumented immigrants have been deported at the lowest rate since 2007.  Now, where do we go from here?  Obviously with strong political views on both sides, next month’s election will determine a great deal of how deportation evolves in the next several years.  In President Obama’s first term a record number of undocumented immigrants were deported.

According to the United States government increased technology has led to a lower deportation rate.  Border crossings have decreased and the Mexican government is assisting by sending many Central Americans back to their respective homelands before they ever reach the U.S. border.  Of course, we are awaiting the next Supreme Court nominee to see how laws are interpreted in the future.

This issue of immigration could not be more sensitive than it is now.  If you are seeking compassion and experience, then please contact Baltimore area immigration attorney Briana Arnold.  Attorney Arnold will advise you on any and all matters that are effecting your family.  Give her a call at (410) 484-1400 for a free consultation at her office on 1777 Reisterstown Rd in Pikesville, MD.

How to Handle Your Personal Injury Claim.

Many people think that certain personal injury cases may be handled without the benefit of an attorney.  These claims come in all sizes and varieties.  Are you qualified to determine the severity and potential complications of a given P.I. case?  The injury may have occurred in your car, you may have slipped and fallen in a store, or maybe a neighborhood dog took a bite out of you.

Handling the claim on your own may bring into play the old adage “he who represents himself in court has a fool for a lawyer”.  If you mishandle your side of the case it is a bit like treating a wound without proper medical attention.  In this particular case you could be leaving thousands of dollars lying on the table…you will never know!

Personal injury is more often than not something that needs to be handled by an experienced attorney.  If you feel that you have a potential case, why not begin by contacting Baltimore area personal injury attorney Briana Arnold.  Attorney Arnold will advise you on the proper next step.  Give her a call at (410) 484-1400 for a free consultation at her office on 1777 Reisterstown Rd in Pikesville, MD.

Becoming an American.

It has become a more and more important topic in the United States, especially with the Presidential election looming.  Many Americans have fled their former land risking their lives to make it to our great country.  In 2015 the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services naturalized nearly three-quarters of a million people.  A quarter of the population were once immigrants!

To become an American there are several steps you must take –

1.  The refugee process.  Refugees from abroad need a referral.  Review the process.
2.  The interview.  When someone arrives they are interviewed and personal questions asked.
3.  The English test.  This will determine how much English can be read and written.
4.  The civics test.  It has 100 question, but the interviewer will probably pick a random 10.

It is definitely stressful and extraordinarily important.  If you or a loved one is about to become a United States citizen call Briana Arnold.  Attorney Arnold is a Baltimore area immigration lawyer who will help guide you through the process.  Give her a call at (410) 484-1400 and make an appointment at her office located at 1777 Reisterstown Rd in Pikesville, MD.

Car Accidents and Company Vehicles.

When you are in a car accident and you believe that the other party has been negligent this may result in a personal injury claim.  What if that other vehicle is a “company car, truck, or van”?  Well, that might be a horse of a different color!  Operating a company car is a privilege and a large responsibility.  It does not give someone carte blanche to drive recklessly.

IF the company vehicle is insured the responsibility falls on that insurance company.  That policy is likely to be in the business’ name.  There are cases, however where the operator is responsible for the liability.  Depending on how the transportation was being used at the time of the accident may also be a determining factor on whom is liable.

This potentially complicated issue needs to be sorted out by YOUR legal counsel.  If you feel that you have a case against a driver operating a company vehicle contact Baltimore motor vehicle accident attorney Briana Arnold.  Attorney Arnold will break down every aspect of your case.  Give her a call at (410) 484-1400 for a free consultation at her office on 1777 Reisterstown Rd in Pikesville, MD.
